Achraf Hakimi: The lad from Madrid who eliminated Spain

Morocco produced the upset of the tournament when they eliminated Spain in their Round of 16 game of the FIFA World Cup. 


Scoring the winning penalty was Achraf Hakimi, who has been one of Morocco's best players at the mega event. 


This was a special victory for the left-back, who has now eliminated his country of birth.




Hakimi was born in Madrid to Moroccan parents and joined Real Madrid's youth setup in 2006. 






This made him the first Moroccan player o win the prestigious trophy. 





Hakimi then signed for Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund in 2018 on a two-year loan deal.


After a year with Serie A club Inter Milan, and after winning the Serie A trophy, he moved to French side Paris St. Germain.




At just 24, Hakimi is currently one of the best players in the world.
