The Indianapolis Colts star Anthony Richardson has not had a good time in his home stadium as the 22-year-old quarterback's injury woes continue with him being forced out of 29th September, Sunday's clash.
What happened to Anthony Richardson?
The quarterback led the opening drive of the game that resulted in a touchdown for Jonathan Taylor. With the ball in his hand, he ran up the middle for a nice gain in the first quarter. But, later on, he got tackled from behind by safety Minkah Fitzpatrick.
Richardson went down holding his hip. He did not feature in the next two plays for the Indianapolis Colts but when he made a return, he took the ball and ran with it once again. The pressure was on him and this time he chose to slide but once again he had to leave the field holding his hip.
NFL insider Ari Meirov posted on his X account, "Colts QB Anthony Richardson has gone to the locker room. This was the injury."
The quarterback was not able to feature in the second quarter as well. Later, the Colts gave an update on him and declared him unfit for the game due to a hip injury.
Indianapolis Colts backup plan
Despite his woeful performances this season, Anthony Richardson was still declared the starting QB for the Colts. Earlier this year, the Colts signed the veteran quarterback Joe Flacco and bolstered their bench.
Famous TV reporter Cameron Wolfe on X account posted, "Colts QB Anthony Richardson has been ruled OUT with hip injury. Joe Flacco rest of the way."
Flacco was awarded the NFL Comeback Player of the Year last season and he made a mark on the game in the absence of Richardson. He looks to play the rest of the three quarters and even has the chance to get the upper hand for future games.
