New England Patriots head into their Week 16 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens with a shortened but impactful injury list. As the Patriots prepare for Sunday night football at M&T Bank Stadium, defensive availability remains a key storyline, particularly with one starter already ruled out and several others carrying questionable designations.
Robert Spillane ruled out for Ravens game
Linebacker Robert Spillane is the only Patriots player officially ruled out for the clash against Baltimore. Spillane did not participate in practice this week due to an ankle injury and will miss the contest.
His absence is significant for New England’s defense. Spillane has been one of the team’s most productive defenders in 2025, recording 97 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions, and five passes defended. Losing his presence in the middle of the field could test the Patriots’ run defense and coverage against Baltimore’s dynamic offense.
Multiple defenders listed as questionable
Several key defensive contributors remain questionable and will be monitored closely leading up to kickoff.
Defensive tackle Christian Barmore is dealing with a knee injury and did not practice. He has posted 26 tackles and three tackles for loss this season, and his interior presence would be valuable against the Ravens’ rushing attack.
Edge rusher Harold Landry was limited in practice with a knee issue. Landry has been one of New England’s most disruptive defenders, tallying 8.5 sacks and 10 tackles for loss in 2025.
In the secondary, cornerbacks Marcus Jones and Carlton Davis are both listed as questionable. Jones has been a playmaker with three interceptions and 11 passes defended, while Davis has added 56 tackles and nine passes defended despite battling a hip injury.
Positive update for Christian Elliss
Linebacker Christian Elliss appeared on the injury report due to illness but practiced fully and is expected to be available. Elliss has contributed 61 tackles this season and provides important depth at linebacker with Spillane sidelined.
As it stands, Robert Spillane is the only Patriots player confirmed to miss the Ravens matchup. However, the number of questionable defensive starters means New England’s final lineup could look different by kickoff.
