Story Highlights:

Jalen Carter and multiple Eagles starters have been ruled out for the regular-season finale.

Philadelphia will rely on depth players as they prepare to host the Commanders.

Philadelphia Eagles head into their Week 18 matchup against the Washington Commanders facing significant injury concerns on both sides of the ball.

As the 11-5 Eagles prepare to host Washington at Lincoln Financial Field on Sunday, January 4, their final injury report lists eight players, with several key starters already ruled out.

Jalen Carter ruled out as Philadelphia Eagles defense takes a hit

Defensive tackle Jalen Carter headlines the injury report after being officially ruled out with a hip injury. Carter did not participate in practice throughout the week, and his absence leaves a noticeable void in the middle of Philadelphia’s defensive line.

In 2025, Carter recorded three sacks, five tackles for loss, and consistently disrupted opposing offenses with his interior presence.

Joining him on the inactive list is edge rusher Jaelan Phillips, who is sidelined with an ankle injury. Phillips had been a steady contributor off the edge this season, totaling five sacks and seven tackles for loss, and his absence further weakens Philadelphia Eagles’ pass rush.

Offensive depth tested with multiple starters unavailable

The Eagles will also be without right tackle Lane Johnson, who has been ruled out with a foot injury after failing to practice. Johnson’s limited availability this season has already challenged Philadelphia’s offensive line depth, and his absence could impact protection schemes in the season finale.

Tight end Dallas Goedert is another notable absence. Goedert, who has been a major red-zone threat with 11 touchdowns in 2025, will miss the game due to a knee injury. His unavailability removes a key safety valve from the Eagles’ passing attack.

Secondary and linebacker group affected

In the secondary, safety Marcus Epps has been ruled out after not clearing concussion protocol. Linebacker Nakobe Dean is also unavailable due to a hamstring injury, removing an important playmaker from the middle of the defense. Dean had been productive this season, contributing four sacks and 55 total tackles before being sidelined.

These defensive absences collectively place added responsibility on the remaining starters as Philadelphia looks to maintain its defensive intensity heading into the postseason.

Positive signs for depth players

There is some encouraging news for Philadelphia Eagles. Offensive tackle Cameron Williams and linebacker Jihaad Campbell both practiced fully during the week.

While neither carries a game designation, their availability provides valuable depth at positions that have been impacted by injuries.

Campbell, in particular, has quietly put together a solid season with 66 tackles and an interception, and his presence could help offset some of the losses at linebacker.
