AI-generated photo fuels widespread engagement speculation online.

A viral image showing Myles Garrett seemingly proposing to Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim has sent social media into a frenzy. But despite widespread speculation, the engagement rumors are not true.

Kim addressed the buzz directly during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on February 26, shutting down claims that she and the Cleveland Browns star are set to tie the knot.

Chloe Kim sets the record straight

“Don’t fall for it guys,” Chloe said during the interview. “It’s not real.”

The three-time Olympic medalist explained that the now-viral image appears to be AI-generated and pointed out noticeable inconsistencies. In the photo, the version of Kim already appears to be wearing a ring on her left hand, while Myles Garrett is seen proposing in sunglasses — something she quickly dismissed.

“I don't want my man to propose to me with sunglasses on,” she added.

The couple first sparked romance rumors in May 2025, but there has been no official engagement announcement.

How the Rumor Spread

The fabricated image circulated widely online, even catching the attention of fellow Olympians. Chloe Kim revealed that skiing legend Lindsey Vonn initially believed the photo was real.

“I hope she doesn't get mad at me for sharing this,” Chloe began, “but she texts me. She's like, ‘Oh my gosh, congrats. And I'm like, ‘Oh, thank you, but you already congratulated me for my medal. So, thanks again.’ She’s like, ‘On the engagement.’ I'm like, ‘What?’”

It was only after searching her own name online that Kim realized the internet had unofficially “engaged” her.

Thankfully, her mother quickly spotted the image as artificial. “My mom calls me and she's like, ‘Oh my gosh, Chloe, I saw that AI picture of you getting proposed to,’” Kim recalled. “She was like, ‘You would never wear something like that.’”

Engagement talk — just not yet

While the viral moment turned out to be fiction, Chloe Kim made it clear she values the idea of engagement itself. When asked about the oversized diamond in the fake image, she responded:

“Oh my gosh, yes of course,” Chloe assured him. “I think getting engaged is such a beautiful thing, and I think if you find the right person—I mean, this is how I feel about it—anything works. Like it could be a Ring Pop, I don't care.”

For now, though, the Olympic silver medal is the only new jewelry Kim is bringing home — not an engagement ring.
