Washington Commanders will head into their Saturday evening matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles dealing with significant availability concerns on both sides of the ball.
As the two NFC East rivals prepare to meet at Northwest Stadium on December 20, Washington has listed 10 players on its final injury report, including its starting quarterback and multiple starters in the trenches.
Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET, and the Commanders’ ability to stay competitive against a 9-5 Eagles team may hinge on how well they manage the absences.
Jayden Daniels headlines list of absences
Washington Commanders will be without quarterback Jayden Daniels, who has officially been ruled out due to an elbow injury. Despite limited participation in practice earlier in the week, the team opted to hold him out.
Daniels has accounted for 10 total touchdowns this season and has been a dual-threat presence, making his absence a notable setback for the Commanders’ offense.
The offensive line will also be shorthanded, as left tackle Laremy Tunsil remains sidelined with an oblique injury after not practicing. Tight end Colson Yankoff (ankle) and defensive tackle Eddie Goldman (concussion) are also ruled out after missing practice entirely.
Defensive depth under scrutiny
Washington’s defensive front could be stretched thin depending on final pregame evaluations. Jer’Zhan Newton is listed as questionable due to an illness and did not participate in practice.
Newton has been a consistent interior presence this season and his availability could impact Washington’s ability to pressure the Eagles’ offense.
Cornerback Jonathan Jones is also questionable with a rib injury. Jones missed practice and would be a key piece in coverage if cleared, particularly against Philadelphia’s wide receiver group.
Positive updates ahead of kickoff
There is some encouraging news for Washington Commanders , as several contributors practiced fully and are expected to play. Running back Chris Rodriguez has no injury designation after dealing with a groin issue and remains an important part of the ground attack.
Defensive end Drake Jackson, offensive tackle George Fant, and veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner also logged full practices despite knee and groin concerns.
Wagner continues to anchor the defense and leads the team in tackles, providing stability as Washington navigates multiple absences.
