Los Angeles will aim to go above .500 when they face the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday. And one of the vital matchups is happening in the slot.
After an explosive debut that saw him breach 1,200 yards, Ladd McConkey has taken a step back in 2025 but is still fairly productive, catching 58passes for 683 yards and five touchdowns. Meanwhile, Cooper DeJean stays among the league's most dominant nickelbacks with 72 tackles (48 solo), ten pass breakups, and an interception.
On Friday, Offensive coordinator Greg Roman expressed his thoughts on the battle:
"I was born at night, but not last night. Vic's going to have different ways to leverage coverage to where it's not one-on-one at all times ... But as far as the matchup, I like Ladd against anybody."
QB Justin Herbert among Chargers' questionable vs Eagles
Elsewhere on the Chargers' offense, Justin Herbert was officially placed as questionable on Saturday. He ha undergone surgery after fracturing his hand during a 31-14 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.
During his press conference on Wednesday, he had seconded Jim Harbaugh's confidence that he would be on the field come gametime:
“It’s pretty early in the process. The plan is to prepare as if I’m going to play. I’m going to see how the next couple of days go and do everything I can to be out there for the team.”
On Saturday, Greg Roman discussed team's participation for possibly missing the quarterback:
“I think you got to try to look at it from all the different angles, you know, as you prepare. What if this happens? ... It’s just a good reminder you really need to work through these contingencies in your mind. A lot of what we practiced that week went out the window. So, really, hats off to Justin and everybody.”
Also questionable are running backs Omarion Hampton (ankle) and Hassan Haskins (hamstring), as well as nose tackle Otito Ogbonnia (elbow/practice window). Out for the game is tight end Tucker Fisk (ankle).
Hampton had spoken about wanting to play on Thursday:
"I've been around the whole time, so I've been in meetings and everything. The mental part really hasn't stopped for me, it's just being back in the groove of it is really the main thing."
