Giants fire Brian Daboll after four seasons and a 2-8 start to the campaign.

Jason Kelce calls out GM Joe Schoen while wishing interim coach Mike Kafka luck.

The New York Giants are going to a new direction as the team parted ways with the head coach Brian Daboll on Monday in the wake of a flop 2-8 start to the season.

Daboll, who was in his fourth season with the side, was fired after a fourth back-to-back defeat against the Chicago Bears on Sunday. The Team's performances have been on the downward spiral despite sparks from Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo.

Jason Kelce on Daboll's firing

Former Philadelphia Eagles centre Jason Kelce noted Daboll's shortcoming that ended up in his firing this week. However, Kelce also called out the Giants' general manager, Joe Schoen, for his lack of accountability.

In Tuesday's edition of the New Heights podcast with Travis Kelce, Jason said:

"Daboll's been there for four years, they've changed over the roster completely, and the team just hasn't gotten better. They've shown flashes, like it felt like four weeks ago, it felt like things were starting to turn a corner. But the graphics are out there.

"They've blown a number of big double-digit leads that good teams and really disciplined teams don't do. It's not all Brian Daboll's fault, never is, but when you're the head coach, you're the one ultimately responsible. Somehow, the general managers is abstaining from responsibility over this whole thing to date."

Mike Kafka will take over the interim role following Daboll's firing, and the Kelce Brothers wished him luck, as they both worked with him at the start of their NFL careers.

Giants president appreciates GM Joe Schoen for involving young talent

While Brian Daboll faced criticism for the team's performances over the past four weeks, Giants general manager Joe Choen has not been immune from backlash.

After Daboll's firing on Monday, Giants president John Mara appreciated Schoen for assembling a good bunch of players.

"We feel like Joe has assembled a good young nucleus of talent, and we look forward to its development," said Mara. "Unfortunately, the results over the past three years have not been what any of us want. We take full responsibility for those results and look forward to the kind of success our fans expect."

Schoen is leading the search for New York's next coach while Kafka is preparing to lock horns with the Green Bay Packers on Sunday in his first game as interim coach.
