Philadelphia Eagles fans and former stars are getting angry with the level of performance by the offense.
Jason Kelce reflects on Eagles' offense
Specifically, Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley are going through a bad patch. On the latest edition of "New Heights," former Eagles center Jason Kelce claimed that it's worrying to see how the offense has performed.
“We got to find a way to get this offense going… We have to do things to figure this out… We have to be way better,” said Kelce (Time Stamp 28:17).
Last week, the offense registered just 124 passing yards, with Hurts throwing for under 200 yards for a third straight game.
For Kelce, it's imperative that the rushing attack, consisting of Barkley, gets better in a hurry.
“We have to get the ground game going. Everybody wants to talk about this year’s offense versus last year’s offense… The number one difference is that we can’t run the football,” added Kelce (Time Stamp 28:32).
Decline in Barkley's performances
Barkley, who topped the league with 2,005 yards in the 2024 season, is averaging just 3.8 yards per carry in the ongoing season. In 2024, he had 5.8 yards per carry.
“If you look back on Nick Sirianni’s entire existence in Philadelphia, the Eagles have been a top-five to top-seven rushing team every year in the NFL. We are not there right now, and that’s the biggest thing that makes throwing the ball so much freaking hard,” Kelce went on to say (Time Stamp 29:00).
Collectively, the Eagles are averaging the fifth-fewest rushing yards per game at 184.9. With the ground game struggling, Hurts has had to go to the air regularly, with 25 pass attempts in their last two outings.
According to former Eagles quarterback, Donovan McNabb, the team's offense is giving boring performances.
Dip in Jalen Hurts' form
Hurts is the other big rushing threat, and he has not been productive in that department either, averaging 3.6 yards per carry this season, the lowest of his NFL career.
