Kansas City Chiefs are on the quest to win the Super Bowl for the third consecutive time.

While the world is busy debating and picking one between Kansas City Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes and NFL legend Tom Brady, the two do not share any competitive acrimony rather Brady is doing what the veterans do i.e., uplift and motivate the modern-day great. As the Chiefs have made it to their third consecutive Super Bowl and Patrick Mahomes has once again emerged as the orchestrator of his team's success, a flashback moment could be recalled when Brady comforted the Quarterback after incurring a loss to the Patriots in the AFC Championship Game.

Tom Brady's Advice Proved to be Handy for Patrick Mahomes

Tom Brady called the young Kansas City signal-caller Patrick Mahomes aside after their first playoff game. His words proved prescient in a season that put the two-time Super Bowl winners to the test. Brady's counsel to Mahomes, which he still considers to be the finest as a professional, has resulted in Mahomes and his teammates returning to grandest stage six months later.

The Chiefs have stretched their season into January and into the Super Bowl for the fifth time in six years, and the first time in six years. They are also attempting to win three consecutive Lombardi Trophies, a feat that the Pittsburgh Steelers, San Francisco 49ers, and New England Patriots were unable to do after winning back-to-back championships.

“We dealt with so much adversity at the beginning of the year, and we just kept winning,” Mahomes told me in a quiet moment after Kansas City’s AFC championship win over the Buffalo Bills. “We found ways to win at the end of the day. Games like today—and the defense getting that stop, when we only got a field goal at the end, that’s just stuff we did from the beginning of the year. It’s made us hardened.”

He further added, “It’s made us even better for the adversity we dealt with. I’m just glad we got some of those guys that were injured back, and now we can see the vision [we had] for the offense. We’re going to need it because we’re going up against a great team in Philadelphia.”
