The Indianapolis Colts' losing streak stretched to three games after they fell 30-20 to the Buffalo Bills. The loss not only snapped a three-game home winning streak but also marked the first time this season that a Colts game wasn’t decided by a single possession, highlighting the growing struggles of a team that had previously kept games close.
Kenny Moore II slams team's effort after defeat
Following the game, Colts defensive leader Kenny Moore II didn’t mince words when discussing the team's performance. Moore voiced his frustration with the lack of effort and urgency, saying that not all players were putting in their best work.
"I don't think everybody is working as hard as possible, and obviously it's showing," Moore stated. "I'm not the type to sugarcoat it, honestly. I don't think the urgency is there. I don't think the details are there, I don't think the effort is there and I don't see everything correlating from meetings to practice to the games and it shows."
Moore’s comments reflect a broader frustration within the team as the Colts continue to search for answers. The veteran cornerback believes the team needs a shift in mentality, specifically urging them to define their identity and regroup before it’s too late.
Joe Flacco struggles in second straight loss
Another pressing issue for the Colts has been the play of veteran quarterback Joe Flacco, who was brought in to replace the injured Anthony Richardson in hopes of stabilizing the offence. However, the decision has yet to pay off, as Indianapolis has lost both games with Flacco at the helm.
Against the Bills, Flacco had a disastrous performance, throwing two interceptions within his first five passes, including a pick-six. He finished the game with a total of four turnovers, marking his fourth career game with that many turnovers. Since the QB change, Flacco has only thrown two touchdowns compared to four interceptions, a troubling stat for a team hoping to stay competitive.
Despite the struggles, Colts head coach Shane Steichen confirmed that Flacco would remain the starting quarterback for the upcoming week, doubling down on the team's decision to go with the veteran as they attempt to turn things around.
AFC South still in reach, but Colts need to find momentum
While the Colts are still within striking distance of the AFC South title, their recent play has put their playoff hopes in jeopardy. To salvage their season, Indianapolis will need to rally and start generating positive momentum. That will have to begin next week when the Colts travel to face Aaron Rodgers and the New York Jets in a must-win matchup.
As Moore and his teammates look to regroup, the clock is ticking on Indianapolis to get back on track and avoid falling further behind in the competitive AFC playoff race.
