The owner of the New York Jets, Woody Johnson has broken silence on whether he wants quarterback Aaron Rodgers for the upcoming 2025 National Football League (NFL) season. The Jets are entering a new era as Aaron Glenn takes over as the head coach and Darren Mougey gets to become the general manager.
What did Woody Johnson say about Aaron Rodgers?
On Monday, January 27, Woody Johnson was asked about Aaron Rodgers' future in the team and he responded that it was Glenn and Mougey's call.
I'm gonna leave that to them. They've gotta take a look at how the team's composed and what they think they need, Johnson said.
He was then asked the big question of whether would he welcome back the 41-year-old once he got the nod from Glenn and Mougey. Johnson also mentioned that he won't share his opinion on whether he wants Rodgers to make a return.
If they want him back, Aaron's talented, for sure, he's a Hall of Famer, Johnson added.
Aaron Glenn wants Aaron Rodgers back this season
Aaron Glenn was asked on Monday, January 27 how is he going to deal with Aaron Rodgers before the start of a fresh season. He said that they have already reached out to Rodgers and will see everything and every position in this offseason.
We've already texted Aaron. We're going to sit there and watch every game tape there is. And then we're gonna look at the whole roster. This thing is not about Aaron Rodgers folks. This is about the roster. And we plan on building the best roster that we can, Glenn said.
Aaron Rodgers has been with the Jets since the last two seasons but he didn't feature in 2023 due to an ACL tear before the 2022 season. Last season, he only managed to play 17 games, registering a 5-12 while completing 63 percent of passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
