The incident occurred near West Vernon Avenue and South Wilton Place, where LAPD officers approached a group that included the 25-year-old NFL player. Authorities reportedly saw a firearm inside a parked vehicle associated with the group. When police asked for the car keys, one individual tossed them to Lenoir, who then passed them along to a third person. That individual allegedly attempted to hide the keys from officers, prompting Lenoir’s arrest for obstructing a police investigation.
Lenoir was booked and held overnight before being released early Friday morning. He is scheduled to appear in court in July. No charges related to the firearm have been reported, and the LAPD has not released additional information regarding other members of the group.
The San Francisco 49ers have not issued a public statement about the incident.
Lenoir, a Los Angeles native, is entering his fourth season in the NFL. He signed a five-year, $92 million contract extension with the 49ers in November 2024, a significant commitment that reflects his growing importance on the team’s defense. Drafted in the fifth round (No. 172 overall) out of the University of Oregon in 2021, Lenoir has steadily developed into a dependable presence in the secondary.
Last season, Lenoir transitioned into a slot cornerback role, where he posted a career-high 85 total tackles, along with two interceptions over 15 games. Pro Football Focus ranked him as the 41st cornerback in the league, highlighting his consistency and versatility on the field.
Over the course of his career, Lenoir has recorded six interceptions, 265 tackles, and 26 passes defensed.
The 49ers are slated to begin training camp on July 22. Joint practices with the Denver Broncos are scheduled for August 7, followed by a preseason matchup between the two teams on August 9 at Levi’s Stadium. San Francisco will open its regular season on September 7 in a road game against the Seattle Seahawks.
