Story Highlights:

Mike Evans was a seventh-pick in the 2014 NFL draft for the Buccaneers.

In a recent interview, Evans revealed that he might participate in the 2028 Olympics as part of the flag football team if he hangs up his boots from the NFL.

Mike Evans is now tied with Hall of Famer Jerry Rice for the most 1,000-yard seasons to begin a career.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers Mike Evans recently opened up on his retirement plans and his plans for the upcoming 2028 Olympics. Evans is most likely one of the underrated wide receivers in the National Football League (NFL). The 31-year-old was a seventh-pick in the 2014 NFL draft for the Buccaneers as he has his eyes set on the future.

What did Buccaneers' Mike Evans say about his retirement and 2028 Olympics plans?

In a recent interview, Evans revealed that he might participate in the upcoming 2028 Olympics as part of the flag football team if he hangs up his boots from the NFL. The upcoming edition of the Olympics will be held in Los Angeles, California.

This is good practice for me for the Olympics. Most likely I'll be retired in 2028, how many years is that? I don't know. But if I am retired, I'd definitely like to [join the flag football team], Evans said.

The 31-year-old has shown no signs of slowing down. Despite featuring in only 14 games, he still managed to get 74 receptions on 110 targets for 1,004 yards (13.6 yards per catch) with 11 touchdown receptions to go with it. He has now hit the mark of 1,000-yard total in each of the last eleven NFL seasons.

Mike Evans is now tied with Hall of Famer Jerry Rice for the most 1,000-yard seasons to begin a career. Time will only tell whether he catches passes in the NFL or for the United States National Flag Football Team in pursuit of an Olympic gold medal.

Who will be the next wide receiver across Mike Evans next season?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have had one of the best wide receivers rooms in the sport but that story will soon be different for them. Mike Evans signed a contract extension last offseason, but Chris Godwin, who suffered a left ankle dislocation during the season will be an unrestricted free agent.

If the Buccaneers have made up their mind to move on from Godwin, then they have options in the likes of Stefon Diggs, Keenan Allen, Amari Cooper, DeAndre Hopkins and Tee Higgins. Rookie Jalen McMillan could be a second option going forward.
