The singer shares how the rumor turned into a playful running joke between her and Travis.

For months, the internet has been buzzing with speculation that Taylor Swift made a secret cameo in Netflix’s Happy Gilmore 2. Fans of the pop superstar circulated a theory that Swift was the person inside the bear costume during a hilarious dream sequence in the film.

Now, the 35-year-old singer has officially put the rumors to rest. Appearing on New Heights, the podcast hosted by her boyfriend Travis Kelce and his brother Jason Kelce, Swift was asked directly to confirm or deny the long-standing fan theory.

With no hesitation, Swift responded: “I can deny!”

A running joke between Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce

Swift revealed that the speculation has become an inside joke between her and Travis. The couple often send each other fan theories they stumble upon, playfully teasing one another about the wild rumors.

“This is one of those ones where, like, we’ll send it to each other and be like, ‘Hey, did you hear I was the bear in there?’ And he’s like, ‘Yeah, did you hear we bought a house in Lake Como?’ At this point, we’re just like, of course they think I’m inside of a bear costume,” Taylor Swift explained.

Her candid response not only put the theory to bed but also gave fans a glimpse into the couple’s lighthearted private banter.

Flattered by the speculation

Despite firmly denying the cameo, Taylor Swift admitted that she was touched by the suggestion, given her affection for the Adam Sandler classic.

“I’m honored to be thought of in that context because I loved that movie so much. I watched it multiple times. I loved it so much. Whoever did the bear acting was exquisite,” she said with a laugh.

Her comments show that while the rumor was false, she appreciated being associated with the film that holds such nostalgic value for fans.

The real story behind the cameo-packed sequel

Directed by Kyle Newacheck, Happy Gilmore 2 premiered on Netflix on July 25, bringing back Adam Sandler alongside Julie Bowen, Ben Stiller, and Christopher McDonald. The sequel also features a string of celebrity cameos, including Margaret Qualley, Bad Bunny, and Travis Kelce himself, who plays a waiter.

The much-discussed bear scene takes place in a dream sequence where Kelce’s character is tied to a post and smeared with honey by Oscar, Happy’s caddy, played by Bad Bunny. A bear is then released, sparking fan theories that Swift was secretly behind the costume.

Swift still praises the Netflix film

Even though she debunked the cameo rumors, Taylor Swift had nothing but praise for the Netflix sequel. Shortly after its release, she took to Instagram to post the film’s official poster with a glowing review:

“Happy Gilmore 2 had me cackling and cheering the whole movie. An absolute must-watch. 13/10, go watch it on Netflix as soon as humanly possible.”

Her words not only silenced the rumors but also reinforced her genuine enthusiasm for the film, showing once again why she remains one of the most relatable global superstars.
