Reporters questioned Cooper DeJean about his unique interception celebration. The former Iowa star said the team wanted to pay tribute to John Cena, who retired from professional wrestling after 26 years in the industry as the face of the WWE.
"Yeah, we were just in zone," DeJean said. "Was laying it down and came all the way back around and I saw him pop his feet and took off, was able to catch it. Thought he was going to score but didn't realize he was right behind me.
"Yeah, celebration, just a tribute to John Cena. The guy I watched growing up. Big WWE guy when I was a kid. So yeah, we had that one planned for a while."
The Eagles are once again NFC East Champions. They eliminated the Dallas Cowboys from the playoff race on Saturday and will face the Buffalo Bills in Week 17, hoping to extend their winning streak to three games.
