India secured eight medals on Day 10 of the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. Following this, the country lifted its overall tally to 45 medals while remaining in 12th place on the medal table.

The Indian contingent’s haul stands at four gold, 20 silver and 21 bronze medals as of 28 September 2026. Despite the strong showing on the day, particularly in athletics, the absence of additional gold medals kept India outside the top 10.

India’s medals have come across a range of sports, including strong contributions from shooting, athletics, kabaddi, which added two golds, and women’s cricket, which bagged one gold. The focus now shifts to converting more opportunities into gold medals in the remaining days of the Games.
The latest medal was won by shooter Esha Singh, who added silver in the Women’s 25m air pistol event, while Pincky Balhara won bronze in the Kurash women’s 78 kg category. Additionally, Gulveer Singh added silver in the 1500m, Sreeshankar Murali in the long jump, and Yash Vir Singh in javelin.
Earlier, Vithya Ramraj won a bronze medal in the women’s 4000m hurdles to create a new national record and break PT Usha’s 42-year-old record. Parul Chaudhary bagged bronze in the women’s 5000m while Rohit Singh added bronze in javelin.
Meanwhile, China continued its dominant run at the top of the standings with 132 gold medals and a total of 230 medals. Host nation Japan sits second with 41 gold and 172 medals overall, followed by South Korea in third.
