Abhay Singh has reached the final of the Men’s Singles Squash and is just one win away from the gold medal. The Indian squash star has secured at least a silver medal after powering into the final at the 20th Asian Games. The second-seeded 28-year-old from Chennai defeated Pakistan’s Muhammad Ashab Irfan 3-0 (11-3, 12-10, 11-6) in the semi-final on Saturday.

Singh controlled the match from the beginning and closed out the contest in straight games. He now stands one victory away from gold. The final, scheduled for Sunday, will see him face either top seed Eain Yow Ng of Malaysia or Pakistan’s Noor Zaman, depending on the result of the other semi-final. Hence, he now awaits the winner between the two.
Singh, currently ranked World No. 26, advanced through the draw with dominant performances, including a straight-games quarter-final win over Japan’s Ryunosuke Tsukue. He became just the second Indian man to enter the summit clash. The first one was Saurav Ghosal, who won the silver medal in the 2014 and 2023 editions.
The result adds to India’s strong showing in squash at these Games and keeps medal hopes alive in the individual event. Singh will look to convert his final appearance into gold when he steps on court again tomorrow.
