Asian Games: Indian archers win another gold, Sahil-Chikitha beat Korea in shoot-off

Indian archers Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav beat South Korea in final to win a gold medal in the compound mixed team event at Asian Games 2026. Chikitha and Sahil's final match went down the wire as it progressed to shoot off. In the shoot-off, Indian archers shot two 10s to secure a gold medal and a berth in in Los Angeles Olympics 2028 as well.

In the final, India started with four 10s in the opening end while Korea scored 39. India found four 10s in the second end as well while Korea scored 39 again. In the third end, India scored 38 while Korea completed a hat-trick of 39. In the final end, India scored 39 while Korea took it to shoot-offs with four perfect 10s. In the shoot-off, India edged past Korea to win a gold medal.

This is the second gold medal for India’s archery contingent at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026. It is also India’s eighth gold medal at the games.
