Young Indian wrestler Antim Panghal has been making a remarkable personal sacrifice for the past three years. She has completely given up her favourite sweet for three years now. This is not it; the youngster will not touch it for two more years.

The 22-year-old freestyle star has not tasted the popular treat since 2023 and has vowed to continue the ban for another two years, until after the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. With her sights firmly set on gold at the upcoming Asian Games, Panghal says the strict discipline helps her stay focused and maintain her weight in the competitive 53 kg category. During her conversation with Sports Now, she said:

"I have not had it for three years now. I will eat it in 2028 (after LA28).”

Pangahl, as per the aforementioned source, further revealed that she ‘really’ wants to eat it. However, she will avoid it as her eyes are on the medal. She further told:

“Whenever I go home, my mother prepares Kadhi and Churma for me.”

Already a two-time U20 world champion and Asian Games bronze medallist, the Haryana athlete is determined to upgrade her medal colour this time around before chasing an Olympic podium. Her story of grit and self-denial is winning fans as she prepares for the big stage.
