Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma attended the NBA Abu Dhabi Games, where he watched the Boston Celtics face off against the Denver Nuggets. He was accompanied by his wife, Ritika Sajdeh, and had the opportunity to meet legendary Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas, a FIFA World Cup champion. The picture where he posed with Iker took the internet by storm.
Rohit recently led the Indian team to victory in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, ending a lengthy title drought for the nation. His success included a clean sweep against Bangladesh on home turf. Iker Casillas, who captained Spain to their first FIFA World Cup victory in 2010, is a celebrated figure in football. He also led Spain to victory in the 2008 and 2012 UEFA European Championships. The 43-year-old had a stellar club career with Real Madrid, winning numerous titles including La Liga, the UEFA Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup, before finishing his playing days at Porto.
Rohit also led India to a 2-0 Test series victory against Bangladesh at home. The Indian skipper will now be seen in a three-match Test series against New Zealand Test starting October 16. He is currently enjoying his break.

For the third consecutive season, NBA basketball is returning to the Arabian Gulf for The NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2024, presented by ADQ. It will be an action-packed week of games and fan experiences, featuring the reigning champion Boston Celtics and the 2023 champion Denver Nuggets as they kick off the 2024 NBA preseason in Abu Dhabi on October 4. The Abu Dhabi Games are one of four international events on the NBA calendar for the upcoming season, alongside the NBA Mexico City Game 2024, NBA Canada Series, and NBA Paris Games 2025. This year marks the third series of games held in the UAE, showcasing two exciting preseason matchups between the Celtics and Nuggets.
Other than the game, NBA District is a four-day fan engagement event taking place at the Manarat Al Saadiyat Gallery in Abu Dhabi from October 3-6. Attendees will have the chance to meet NBA legends, play on a full-size NBA court, take photos with the Larry O’Brien Trophy, and much more.
Fan Appreciation Day will occur on October 5 at Etihad Arena, featuring a variety of celebrity guests and musical performances, including appearances by current Celtics and Nuggets players, as well as NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.
