Rovman Powell went absolutely berserk in the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 League 2022 hitting 9 sixes in a successful run chase for Northern Warriors. Powell hit 76 runs from just 28 deliveries to inspire Warriors to their first win of the tournament after three consecutive losses.

Chasing 118 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Warriors lost their opener Adam Lyth off the first ball as Shakib Al Hasan got him stumped. Powell announced his arrival with a six off the first ball he faced. In the fourth over, Shakib struck again to get the wicket of opener Kennar Lewis.

Powell continued to hit big and sent two more balls over the boundary in the fifth over. Sherfane Rutherford played a cameo scoring 22 runs off 11 deliveries. The 29-year-old got to his half-century from just 19 deliveries. The onslaught continued and the wicket of Adam Hose did not have an effect on him.

Powell got Warriors over the line with a four off Iftikhar Ahmed in the 10th over with four balls left in the innings. In his 76-run captain's knock, Powell hit just one boundary. It is also the third-highest score of the ongoing tournament.

Powell is now the second-highest run-scorer in the tournament with 140 runs from four innings at an average of 46.67 and strike rate of 245.61. He is only second to Nicholas Pooran. He has hit 16 sixes and just three fours so far.

Earlier in the match, Bangla Tigers posted a total of 117/4 with the help of cameos from Hazratullah Zazai (21-ball 37), Joe Clarke (15-ball 24) and Evin Lewis (15-ball 38).

Powell was recently released by Delhi Capitals (DC) ahead of IPL 2023 auction. In the mega auction, he was picked for Rs 2.80 crore. In the last season, he scored 250 runs from 14 games at an average of 25 and an economy rate of 149.70.

Also, Powell is one of the frontrunners to take over as captain of West Indies after Pooran stepped down from the role following their shocking exit from T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
