Asia Cup 2025: The 17th edition of the T20 Asia Cup 2025 is set to kick-off on September 9 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. As many as eight teams -- Afghanistan, Hong Kong, India, UAE, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Oman and Sri Lanka -- are participating in the tournament which will go on till September 28.
This year’s Asia Cup will be played in T20 format. So far, there have been two Asia Cups in the T20 format. The remaining 14 have been played in ODI format.

India hold the record for most Asia Cup title wins. In the 31-year history of the format, India have bagged eight titles. They are followed by Sri Lanka with six Asia Cup final wins. Pakistan have won the tournament twice. Bangladesh have made it to the final three times but are yet to win their maiden Asia Cup title. Afghanistan are yet to make it to the Asia Cup final.
Defending champions in ODI and T20I format of Asia Cup
India are defending champions of the tournament. India bowled out Sri Lanka for 54 in the previous edition's final and won the match by 10 wickets. Mohammed Siraj starred with a six-wicket haul.
However, if the T20 format is concerned, Sri Lanka are the defending champions. In Dubai, Sri Lanka beat Pakistan by 23 runs to win the title. Bhanuka Rajapaksa starred with an unbeaten 45-ball 71.
