Bangladesh captain Litton Das had an injury scare ahead of their T20 Asia Cup 2025 Super Four clash against India. While batting in the nets at the ICC Academy Ground on September 22, Das experienced back strain.
As per a report by Cricbuzz, Das attempted a square cut in the nets after which he experienced discomfort. He ended his nets session immediately and was assessed by team's physio Bayzid ul Islam.
"We will have a look at him (Litton) today because from outside he looks quite okay, but we need to conduct a medical assessment before making a final call," a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official told Cricbuzz on the eve of the India clash.
The report further stated that Das was not in serious discomfort after the incident but there are concerns over his availability.
If Das is ruled out of India clash, it is unclear who will captain Bangladesh against India. When the squad was announced, no vice-captain was named.
Bangladesh registered a thrilling four-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the Super Fours clash at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 20. Chasing a target of 169, Das helped Bangladesh get off to a good start in the powerplay overs. He scored 23 runs from 16 balls. He was dismissed by Wanindu Hasaranga in the seventh over. When he departed, Bangladesh were 60/2 from 6.3 overs.
