Amit Mishra hailed India for dominant victory over Pakistan in Asia Cup

India handed a 6-wicket defeat to Pakistan in Asia Cup

Former India cricketer Amit Mishra was left thoroughly impressed with the side's performance against Pakistan in their Asia Cup clash on Sunday. He remarked that the Men in Blue 'showed Pakistan their place' with the thumping 6-wicket victory and was also critical of the Salman Ali Agha-led side's 'theatrics' during the match.

"Crushing win for the Indian team, showing Pakistan its place. It’s not about individual celebrations or nasty comments like certain Pakistan players did, it’s about what the team does. Pakistan was about theatrics while India was at their professional best. Well done!!!" Mishra wrote on X.

Coming to the match, Pakistan batted well and managed to post a fighting total of 171/5 on the board in 20 overs. Sahibzada Farhan was the top performer for the side with his knock of 58 runs. The Men in Green had a strong finish to their innings thanks to Faheem Ashraf's cameo of 20 runs from 8 deliveries.

Tempers flared during the match

Then, the match between got quite intense when it was India's turn to bat. Pakistan bowlers Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf tried to rile up the opening pair of Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill by sledging them. However, that didn't end up going as planned and the Indian openers smacked the Pakistan openers all around the stadium. They formed a massive partnership of 105 runs and made the equation easy for the side.

Though both Abhishek and Gill had lost their wickets by the 13th over, the damage had already been done. Though India lost Suryakumar Yadav for a duck, Tilak Varma's unbeaten cameo of 30 guided the side to the 172-run target with seven deliveries left to spare.

India's next opponent to be Bangladesh

The victory saw India remain unbeaten in the tournament and will now be facing-off against Bangladesh in their next match that will be played on September 24. On the other hand, Pakistan will be hoping to record their first victory of the Super 4 stage when they take on Sri Lanka on September 23.
