Ravindra Jadeja undergoes successful knee surgery, says 'I will start my rehab soon'

Ravindra Jadeja has confirmed that he has had a successful knee surgery on September 6. Jadeja thanked Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) , teammates, doctors and others in an Instagram post.

“The surgery was successful. There are many people to thank for their support and involvement - BCCI, my teammates, support staff, physios, doctors and the fans. I will start my rehab soon and try to get back to (bat emoticon) soon as I can. Thank you to everyone for your kind wishes,” Jadeja wrote on Instagram. 

The star all-rounder also shared a photo of himself standing with the help of crutches. 

Jadeja got ruled out of Asia Cup 2022 after sustaining a right knee injury. Axar Patel replaced him in the squad. Patel was one of the standbys in the squad which was named by the board.

In India’s Asia Cup campaign opener, Jadeja bowled an economical spell and picked up a wicket. Later, he contributed with a match-winning 35-run knock. In the second game, he bowled another economical spell against Hong Kong. 

So far, it is uncertain whether Jadeja will make it back to the squad before T20 World Cup 2022 which will be played in Australia. 

The Saurashtra all-rounder will start his rehabilitation soon and will look to make a comeback in the home limited-overs series against Australia and South Africa. 

While Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injury takes a long time to heal, Dravid has not ruled out the possibility of Jadeja's return.

“I don't want to rule Jadeja out of the World Cup yet. Let's see how he goes in the six-eight weeks going into the T20 World Cup. It's part of every sportsperson's life. It's part of sports. People get injured. It's part of our job to try and manage them, manage how it goes,” Dravid said.

"People get injured, a lot depends on the rehab, severity of the injury. I don't want to rule him out, make too many comments until I have a much clearer picture or better idea especially when the World Cup is six-seven weeks away now," the head coach said, trying to keep the seriousness of injury under wraps,” he added.
