Rinku's impressive display in the T20I series has earned him a maiden call-up to the Indian ODI squad for the upcoming South Africa tour, indicating the selectors' confidence in his ability to perform at the highest level.
According to Nehra, Rinku has a good average in the Ranji Trophy, showcasing his talent in the longer format of the game. Nehra highlighted Rinku's effective performance in the fourth T20I, where he was asked to bat early and played his role well.
Nehra emphasized that Rinku's selection for the ODI series is a significant positive for India. Despite being known for his T20 performances, Nehra pointed out that Rinku averages around 50 in the Ranji Trophy, demonstrating his all-round batting skills.
"People know Rinku Singh because of T20 but don't forget he averages around 50 in Ranji Trophy too," Nehra mentioned. "He's been called up for the one-day squad too. Selectors must've seen something. It's a big plus for India that they have selected him in the 50-over format, and today, he got a chance to bat early and he showed that he can bat long."
The Uttar Pradesh-based batter and his impressive performances in the T20I series have earned him a spot in the ODI squad, and Nehra believes this selection is a positive move for Indian cricket.
