India will play 5-match T20I series against Australia, beginning on November 23.

India's stand-in captain for the T20Is vs Australia, Suryakumar Yadav was surprised when only two journalists showed up for the pre-match press conference before the 1st T20I against Australia in Vizag. Yadav smiled and remarked, "Only 2 people?" before proceeding to answer questions asked by the attending journalists.

The T20I series between India and Australia begins just four days after the ODI World Cup Final 2023 on November 23. The final took place on 19 November in Ahmedabad, with Australia winning their 6th trophy against India. Many members of the World Cup squad had to quickly shift their focus from the final's emotions to prepare for the T20I series.

Australia batter Marnus Labuschagne raised concerns about the schedule ahead of the match, finding it difficult to believe that players have to play an international game on November 23 so soon after the World Cup final.

"Astonishingly, there's another game on tomorrow," Labuschagne was quoted as saying by Fox Sports ahead of the first T20I.

"That's hard to fathom. It's hard to fathom how those guys are going to be playing in a day," Labuschagne further added.

India have selected a youthful squad for the T20I series against Australia, notably excluding Hardik Pandya, Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Jasprit Bumrah. The team is anticipated to test the talents from the Asian Games lineup in the upcoming five matches.
