Rohit Sharma's brigade are on a roll in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar series as India are leading the four-match series 2-1 after thrashing Australia in the first two Tests within three days. India first bulldozed Australia by an innings and 132 runs in the opening Test in Nagpur, then they followed it up with a six-wicket hammering of visitors in the second tie in Delhi.
India skipper Rohit laid the foundation of India's triumph in the first Test with a cracking century with which he became the only India captain to hit a century in all three formats of the game.
While Rohit continues to make inroads for India in his leadership, the legendary cricketer Kapil Dev has questioned Men in Blue's captain's skipper fitness.
Rohit has always been under scanner when it comes to his fitness which has also sidelined from several series recently. During an interaction on ABP News India's 1983 World Cup winning captain Kapil also gave his take on Rohit's fitness and said that he needs to work on his ‘weight’.
“It is very important (to be fit). More so for a captain. It's a shame if you are not fit. Rohit needs to put some hard work on it,” Kapil said.
“He is a great batter but when you talk about his fitness, he looks a bit overweight, at least on TV. Yes, it's different when you look at someone on TV and then in real life. But from whatever I see, Rohit is a great player and a great captain, but he needs to get fit. Look at Virat, whenever you see him, you say, ‘that’s some fitness!” he further added.
