Amidst raging rumours surrounding Shoaib Malik's contract termination by Bangladesh Premier League's (BPL) team Fortune Barishal, the franchise owner released a video quashing all the conjecture. Fortune Barishal owner Mizanur Rahman said that he 'deeply regrets' the rumour surrounding a 'great player' like Malik.

"I deeply regret the rumor regarding Shoaib Malik. He is a great player. He gave us his best. So we should not make a ruckus about it. We lost two consecutive matches so we should focus on the upcoming matches and hopefully, we will turn around. Thank you for being around Fortune Barishal," Fortune Barishal owner Rahman said in a video.

Malik found himself embroiled in controversy after he bowled three no-balls in an over during a BPL match. Multiple reports originating from Bangladesh had earlier claimed that Fortune Barishal took a stringent step and terminated the Pakistan cricketer's contract on the suspicion of 'fixing' after Malik bowled three no-balls in an over.

The incident transpired during the BPL encounter between Fortune Barishal and Khulna Tigers when Malik delivered not one, not two but three no-balls in an over, much to the astonishment of the onlookers.

Captain Tamim Iqbal brought Malik into the attack during the powerplay. The over began with Anamul Haque taking a single off the first ball, followed by Evin Lewis hitting a boundary on the third delivery. Despite conceding five runs from the first three balls, Malik over took a troublesome turn when he overstepped, presenting a no-ball to the opposition. However, he managed to recover with a dot ball on the subsequent delivery, and on the fifth ball, Lewis survived a potential dismissal.

As the over progressed, Malik's troubles continued as he overstepped again, but this time, no run was scored. The ensuing free-hit delivery saw Lewis capitalizing with a boundary. The misery persisted for Malik as he once again overstepped on the last ball of the over, and Lewis concluded the over with a massive six over long-off. The Pakistani all-rounder conceded a total of 18 runs in the over, allowing Khulna Tigers to swiftly cross the fifty-run mark in just four overs.
