Corbin Bosch will join South Africa squad for tri-nation series and Champions Trophy 2025.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced Corbin Bosch as injured Anrich Nortje's replacement for the tri-nation ODI series and Champions Trophy 2025. The 30-year-old, who made his One-Day International (ODI) debut against Pakistan in December, replaces the injured Anrich Nortje. Fast bowler Kwena Maphaka has also been added to the squad as a travelling reserve. Bosch has played one ODI and picked up one wicket against Pakistan.

Bosch and Maphaka, along with opener Tony de Zorzi, depart for Karachi on Sunday to join the squad for the remainder of the tri-nation ODI series against Pakistan and New Zealand.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan allrounder Yasir Arafat has joined the South Africa men's support staff as a consultant for both the tri-nation series and the Champions Trophy.

"Along with Bosch, South Africa have also added fast bowler Kwena Maphaka in the squad as a travelling reserve. The two fast bowlers along with batter Tony de Zorzi will travel to Pakistan on Sunday to join the squad for the remainder of their ODI (tri-) series," the ICC said in a release.

Nortje was out from the Proteas' Champions Trophy squad after getting a back injury. Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed that scans revealed the extent of the injury. Nortje, who missed Wednesday's SA20 game for Paarl Royals against MI Cape Town, is expected to be sidelined for a considerable period.

After Nortje's injury, Gerald Coetzee who was part of the South Africa squad for the tri-nation series featuring Pakistan and New Zealand was supposed to replace him but he was ruled out with a groin issue and he will not be considered for the selection for the Champions Trophy 2025. Coetzee recently recovered from a left hamstring strain that forced him to miss the majority of the SA20 league. He was featured in just one game for the Joburg Super Kings. He had also missed the second Test against Sri Lanka and the subsequent series against Pakistan due to a groin injury.

South Africa will start their Champions Trophy 2025 campaign against Afghanistan on February 21 at the National Stadium in Karachi. Before the mega event, the Temba Bavuma-led side will play two ODIs against New Zealand and Pakistan on 10 and 12 February respectively.
