The Champions Trophy 2025 is scheduled to take place in a hybrid model where the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will get the hosting rights and the venues for the marquee event will be Dubai and Pakistan. However, there are chances now that the whole tournament will take place in Dubai.
As per a reports, Pakistan's venues which will be supposed to host the matches of the Champions Trophy 2025 are currently under construction. The stadiums in Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi are under renovation. The stadium work, which got underway in August last year, was due to finish by December 31, but it's nowhere close to it.
However, PCB shared a release where they ensured that the Pakistan venues for the Champions Trophy 2025 will be ready before the deadline which is January 25.
"PCB assured the fans, spectators and media that all upgradation work was progressing on schedule and will be completed before or around the set deadlines" said PCB in a release.
Not only the assurance, PCB also shifted ODI tri nation series to Lahore and Karachi to show their preparation for the marquee event set to take place next month.
"Given the advanced stage of preparations at Gaddafi Stadium and National Bank Stadium, the PCB has decided to relocate the upcoming tri-nation ODI series to these two venues" said PCB in a release.
As of now all matches which was supposed to take place in Pakistan will be played in Pakistan. India will play all their matches in Dubai.
Pakistan's Rawalpindi, Lahore and Karachi are supposed to host three group stage matches each with semifinal 2 taking place in Lahore. The venue for the final of the marquee event depends on India's chances of qualification. If India qualifies for the final then the title decider will take place in Dubai otherwise Lahore will be the venue.
