Her comments have been extensively denounced nationwide ever since they went viral on social media. Her remarks have also angered a number of former cricket players, who fully support the India skipper.

Harbhajan Singh on Rohit Sharma controversy

Harbhajan Singh also referred to the entire dispute as 'unfortunate' considering Rohit Sharma's enormous impact on Indian cricket. Even cricket players have feelings and emotions, the former spinner added, and it irritates me when ignorant people preach.

“The controversy on fitness of @ImRo45 was unfortunate and uncalled for. He is an outstanding player and an exceptional leader who has made immense contributions to Indian cricket. Sportspersons are also human beings with emotion and sentiment. It indeed hurts when persons who have zero knowledge of the game give sermons. Respect the game and respect the players,” wrote Harbhajan on X.

Due to his incredible performances in all formats, Rohit Sharma has been rising quickly in international cricket in recent years. Since assuming leadership responsibilities, Rohit has led the squad to greater heights, leading them to wins in the 2023 Asia Cup and 2024 T20 World Cup. He has 49 victories from 62 games, a winning rate of 79.03 percent, making him the most successful skipper in T20Is.

With 4231 runs and the joint-highest five hundreds in T20I history, Rohit is also the all-time top run scorer in the format. In T20Is, Rohit has hit the most sixes (205) and in all of international cricket (633). In ODIs, he had an incredible record as captain, winning 40 of the 52 games with a 76.92 winning percentage. In 261 innings, the opening batsman recently became the second-fastest player to reach 11,000 runs in the format.

When India plays Australia in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 semifinal, Rohit will be the next player to play. In the forthcoming match, the captain of India will be keen to exact revenge for the defeat in the 2023 World Cup final.
