India will now face New Zealand in their third Champions Trophy 2025 clash.

India star all-rounder Axar Patel clinched the Indian Cricket team's behind-the-scenes 'Impact Fielder' Award for the Champions Trophy 2025 high-voltage clash against Pakistan. While fielding, Axar Patel attempted a direct hit that helped India to pick Imam-ul-Haq's wicket at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai. The star all-rounder dethroned Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer to win this iconic award.

The best fielder award is generally given by fielding coach T. Dilip. But Axar received his medal from former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan who was invited in the dressing room. BCCI took their social media to announce the winner of the 'Impact Fielder' Award in Dubai. Here is the video.

" I think the way we cut the angles, the backing up was superb today. And the feedback from the KL was the accuracy at which the throws came were amazing. That resulted in five direct hits today. That's terrific stuff. Good fielding unit is like the Formula 1 pit crew. Why? Which makes split-second decisions and there is no hesitation on that. And that's what exactly we did with those two runouts, crucial runouts at the important match. Well done" said T Dilip.

India's fielding coach announced that the contenders for the best fielder award are Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Shreyas Iyer for their good performance against the arch-rivals Pakistan.

"I think before I reveal the contenders and the way we announced today, I give real credit to Anand and his team for really helping me to get going and make it interesting. Coming to the contenders, he's been the live wire in the field, whether it is catching, catching amazingly and also the way he moves around the field with his speed and doing it years and years again and he was outstanding today, none other than Ravindra Jadeja. And someone who's been really good and getting that important run out, but also taking that catch on the outfield, Axar Patel. Someone who showed great consistency throughout the England series and also these games. The way he is chasing the ball, the way he is cutting those angles on the boundary line, he is always on the outfield and saving those brilliant runs there. Shreyas Iyer, contender number 3" added T Dilip.

Former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan who gave the best fielder medal to Axar Patel lavished praise on Rohit Sharma-led side before giving the medal to Axar Patel.

"A big, big congratulations to the whole team, especially the bowling unit. Kuldeep Yadav taking three wickets. And then coming down to the batting. Virat, well played. That's what the experienced players do. Very well done. Shubman, great consistency. KL Rahul. Thanks to the support staff as well for creating such a great environment in the team. Thank you for inviting me over here to give the medal to the special player who created the magic moment as we always talk about Axar Patel" said Shikhar Dhawan.

Earlier, KL Rahul won that medal for India's dominating win against Bangladesh in their Champions Trophy 2025 opener clash. The Men in Blue will now face New Zealand for their third league match of the marquee event.
