Former Pakistan cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz blamed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the Mohammad Rizwan-led side's poor campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy. Defending Champions Pakistan were among the first ones to be ruled out of the tournament. Hosts Pakistan lost their two league games against New Zealand and India respectively.
Sarfraz Nawaz revealed that he wrote to the PCB chairman because the chairman doesn't know much about cricket. He also reckons that Pakistan Cricket's downfall came because of PCB officials running the board and they are bureaucrats, not cricketers.
"Yeah, I watch closely, and on and off, I write to the PCB chairman because he doesn't know much about cricket. I suggested things to him, but it's up to him what he does. Pakistan cricket is gone now. I think it's because of all the PCB officials running the board. They are non-cricketers; they are bureaucrats. That's why I think they don't know how to go about things like that. They've picked people who previously destroyed Pakistan cricket. And then there are frequent changes in the PCB. Within a year and a half, there were three chairmen and four captains. What else do you expect?" Sarfaraz Nawaz told Cricbuzz.
After getting out of the semifinal contention, Pakistan are scheduled to play their third group stage clash against Bangladesh which will be a dead-rubber clash as both teams are out of the semifinal contention.

However, there are chances that the Pakistan vs Bangladesh clash will be washed out due to rain in Rawalpindi. If the clash washed out due to rain then Pakistan will become the first-ever hosting nation who get disqualified from the marquee event without winning a single game.
