They won their third Champions Trophy title.

Rohit Sharma won Player of the Match.

India made history by becoming the first side to win the ICC Champions Trophy three times. India won the title after defeating New Zealand in the final. India was so dominant that they won the trophy without dropping a single match. They defeated Australia in the semifinals after defeating Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand in the league stage. It took the Indians twelve years to win an ICC 50-over championship. They got very near on several occasions, making it to the World Cup semifinals in 2015 and 2019, the ICC Champions Trophy final in 2017, and the 2023 ODI World Cup, but they were unable to cross the finish line. But in the 2025 Champions Trophy, they broke the jinx.

After the ICC Champions Trophy, there were rumors that Rohit Sharma might declare his retirement from the format, but the Indian captain dispelled all of them. "I'm not going to retire from this format, just to make sure that no rumours are spread going forward," he said at the press conference.

Rohit Sharma was also very complimentary of the team that won the event without losing a single game.

"Let's see. It is a great team achievement for the team to win two ICC trophies and to go undefeated is the icing on the cake. I have seen very few teams that have won two tournaments undefeated. For us, the most important thing was that we come here and prepared and played the opposition. We used the conditions well and won. Future plan... there's no future plan, whatever is happening will keep happening."
