India wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul decoded his ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final knock against New Zealand by adding a touch of rapper Kanye West. KL Rahul played an unbeaten match winning knock of 34 runs in the final that helped India to win the title by four wickets at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
KL Rahul played an important role with his bat and behind the wickets during India's campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
Using Kanye's quote, Rahul expressed his delight about India's victory in a video posted by the BCCI and said, "People want to know what I would do if we didn't win. I guess we will never know. It was very special, and I'm really happy we got over the line and won the ICC Champions Trophy.
During India's chase of the 252-run target against the Kiwis in the final, Rohit Sharma-led side were in trouble after losing its fourth wicket at 183/4.
Rahul, who came to bat after Rohit Sharma's wicket, played an unbeaten knock alongside Ravindra Jadeja to see off the chase.
Throughout his stay on the crease, Rahul kept reminding himself to stay calm and back his shots that have allowed him to thrive throughout the tournament.
"There was pressure, and I tried to stay really calm. But I kept myself to be not afraid to play my shots. If there is a ball I can hit, if it's in my range, I am going to go for it. I am going to try to finish this game as early as I can, if possible. I will never forget this," he added.
This is India's third Champions Trophy title, the first one was shared with Sri Lanka in 2002, and the second title came under MS Dhoni's captaincy in 2013. With this win, India became the most successful team in Champions Trophy history, surpassing Australia with three titles. Australia won two Champions Trophy titles.
