The famous white jackets, a badge of honor worn by every player of the winning team, were only introduced for the 2009 ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa, even though the competition was first hosted in Bangladesh in 1998. The jacket was created by Mumbai fashion designer Babita M, whose collections were sold in several prestigious stores, and was first shown on August 13, 2009. Rich Italian wool blends with stripes and texture were used in the blazers. The white jacket features gold braiding and the Champions Trophy insignia embroidered in a golden contour on the cloth.
At the Champions Trophy presentation event, each member of the victorious squad receives white blazers in addition to the coveted silverware. The global administrative board claims that the white jackets are a "badge of honor" that symbolizes the athletes' greatness and unshakable resolve.
