Shubman Gill made a strong start to his time with County Championship Division 2 side Glamorgan in his debut match against Worchestershire with a swashbuckling 92 runs. It was an unlucky innings, however, after Gill was caught LBW aiming through midwicket, off the bowling of Ed Barnard. Gill will count himself unlucky because two balls after his wickets, the players were walking off because of bad light.
However, this match took place at the beginning of September (5-8) and ahead of his third match with Glamorgan against Sussex, the young batter recalled that match with a video of his wicket. He put out a post on Instagram with a video of the wicket and posed an important question for his fans in a simple-worded caption — Out or not-out? What do you guys think?
The ball was an in-swinging one, which caught Shubman on the left pad with this off stump showing. While it was a decision that could have gone either way, the umpire gave the bowler the benefit of the doubt.
The post sparked debate among many people, with many current and former cricketers lending their views as well. India's former U-19 World Cup winning player Taruwar Kohli said, 'Lol Not out Mate'. But he was the only person who came out in support of the Gujarat Titans (GT) batter.
English wicketkeeper Tom Banton said, 'Hitting middle!' and Ollie Pope joined in the banter, replying to the post saying 'Hitting top of off'. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer, Yuvraj Singh, Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Ishan Kishan all commented 'Plumb' with various degrees of affection.
