India skipper Rohit Sharma created history riding on his record-busting ton in the World Cup match against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley stadium in New Delhi on October 11, Wednesday. Hitman Rohit surpassed Sachin Tendulkar's milestone to record most centuries in ICC World Cup history as he notched his seventh ton in the showpiece event.

Rohit cruised to the coveted mark in just 63 balls in which he blasted 12 fours and 4 sixes. Not just this, the explosive opener also become the join-fastest after Australia's David Warner to cross 1000 runs in World Cup, achieving the massive feat in mere 19 innings.
Overall, the 36-year-old Rohit became the fourth Indian to notch 1000-run mark after legendary Sachin Tendulkar, former India skipper Sourav Ganguly and batting juggernaut Virat Kohli.

Rohit who kicked off his ODI World Cup journey in the 2015 edition, notching 330 runs with a century in the quarterfinal against Bangladesh. Then came his groundbreaking performance in the ODI World Cup 2019. Rohit notched the record of smashing most most centuries in a single edition of an ODI World Cup as he hammered five tons to finish as the highest run-scorer with 648 runs.
Rohit also shattered Chris Gayle's all-time record of hitting most sixes in the international cricket. Rohit has so far cracked 556 sixes in the international cricket while Gayle has hammered 553 maximums thus far. While Rohit achieved this feat in 453 matches, Gayle tasted glory in 483 innings.
