Irfan Pathan celebrated the triumph by dancing at his home and expressed his joy for Afghanistan's performance. He shared a message of appreciation for the team on his Instagram account, noting the shift in focus from Afghanistan's bowling to their impressive batting displays.

“The Afghan team’s performance in this World Cup has shifted the conversation from their bowling to their remarkable batting. Kudos to them for their consistent displays,” Irfan wrote on Instagram.

This victory has kept Afghanistan's hopes of qualifying for the World Cup semi-finals alive. With eight points from seven matches and a net run-rate of -0.330, Afghanistan has secured a spot in the 2025 Champions Trophy, ensuring they won't finish below eighth in the points table.

In the first innings, Afghanistan's bowlers were exceptional, dismissing the Netherlands for 179 runs. Mohammad Nabi stood out with a three-wicket haul, while the young sensation Noor Ahmad chipped in with two wickets. The Netherlands' Sybrand Engelbrecht was the lone batsman to achieve a half-century, amassing 58 runs off 86 balls.

During their second innings, Rahmat Shah and skipper Hashmatullah Shaidi played crucial roles by scoring half-centuries, helping Afghanistan chase down the 180-run target with 7 wickets and 18.3 overs to spare.

With this win over the Netherlands, Afghanistan will now prepare to face the 5-time champions, Australia. The two teams are scheduled to clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday, November 7.

On the other hand, the Dutch cricket team will take on the defending champions, England, in their upcoming match at the MCA Stadium in Pune on November 8.
