Jasprit Bumrah, the Indian pace sensation, faced a challenging journey marked by an 11-month absence from cricket due to a back injury. This hiatus caused him to miss numerous crucial tournaments like the 2022 T20 World Cup and the World Test Championship 2023 final. However, he made a remarkable recovery in time to participate in the ODI World Cup 2023, marking his comeback in style.

Bumrah, at 29 years old, has taken the reins of India's pace attack and has emerged as a key performer in the ODI World Cup, claiming 14 wickets in six matches, placing him joint-second for the most wickets in the tournament among bowlers.
In the wake of India's victory over England, Bumrah delivered a poignant response to his doubters, reminding them of his incredible journey from injury-induced adversity to shining on the international stage once again. His triumphant return has solidified his status as one of the world's premier fast bowlers and a vital asset to Team India's aspirations in the ongoing ODI World Cup.
"My wife (the TV sports presenter Sanjana Ganesan) also works in the sports-media department. So yeah, I heard a lot of question marks on my career that I will never come back and all of that, but it doesn't really matter," Bumrah said on Sky Sports.
"I'm very happy. I came back and I realised how much I love playing the game. I was not chasing anything. Great headspace was there when I came back from the injury. So yeah, eventually I'm looking at the positives and trying to enjoy as much as you can," he added.
Throughout the tournament, Bumrah has been consistently effective, making his presence felt in crucial matches against arch-rivals Pakistan and reigning champions England. In the clash against Pakistan in Ahmedabad on October 14, Bumrah took two wickets and earned the Player of the Match award. He continued his outstanding performance in Lucknow against England, where he provided India with a dream start by dismissing two English batsmen on consecutive deliveries during the fifth over while defending a 230-run target.
