Pakistan launched their ODI World Cup 2023's campaign with a bang as Babar Azam's brigade clinched a comprehensive 81-run victory over Netherlands at the Rajeev Gandhi stadium in Hyderabad on October 6, Friday.

While this triumph awarded Pakistan their initial 2 points for the tournament, the Babar's batting didn't quite hit the expected high notes. After the match, elated Babar refelected upon the unyielding support and warmth they've received since their arrival in Hyderabad. “The way Hyderabad supports us, we are very happy. Our team is enjoying the hospitality. Pretty satisfied, credit to the bowlers, the way started well and the way we took wickets in the middle overs. We lost three wickets, the way Rizwan and Saud batted put pressure on the Netherlands. Saud built his innings and played well. He has improved a lot. Our bowlers bowled very well, we stuck to our plans, Haris bowled quick and took wickets,” Babar said.

Talking about the match, Pakistan recovered from an initial setback to secure an 81-run victory over the Netherlands, marking a positive start to their World Cup campaign. Tasked to bat first, the Men in Green found themselves in a tight spot at 38/3, with Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, and Babar Azam dismissed early.

Nevertheless, Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel rose to the occasion, both contributing 68 runs and establishing a pivotal 120-run partnership to steer Pakistan back on track. The champions of the 1992 World Cup subsequently set a challenging score of 286 runs, ultimately restricting the Netherlands to 281.
