PCB complains to ICC for inappropriate conduct targetted at Pakistan squad during India clash in Ahmedabad

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has filed an official complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC) in respect of alleged inappropriate conduct targetted at Pakistan players during the high-voltage clash against India on October 14 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
 

The Ahmedabad crowd booed Pakistan skipper Babar Azam and chanted slogans that did not sit well with PCB. In addition, the PCB has lodged a formal protest with the ICC due to continued delays in visas for Pakistan journalists and a limit set for the number of Pakistani fans.

Earlier, Pakistan team director Mickey Arthur had also made controversial comments in the post-match press conference. Following the comprehensive eight-wicket defeat to Rohit Sharma-led India, Arthur said that he felt it was a BCCI event instead of the World Cup. 
 

"Look, I'd be lying if I said it didn't. It didn't seem like an ICC event to be brutally honest. It seemed like a bilateral series; it seemed like a BCCI event. I didn't hear 'Dil Dil Pakistan' coming through the microphones too often tonight," Arthur said as the sea of blue engulfed the stadium. 
 

"So yes, that does play a role, but I'm not going to use that as an excuse because for us it was about living the moment, it was about the next ball and it was about how we were going to combat the Indian, the Indian players tonight," he added.
 

The Babar Azam-led Pakistan side is currently in Bengaluru where they will face Australia on October 20 at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Meanwhile, a few Pakistan players are suffering from fever. 12 Pakistan players turned up for the training session on October 17. The players who opted to rest are Abdullah Shafique, Shaheen Afridi, Mohammad Rizwan, Agha Salman, Mohammad Haris, and Zaman Khan.
 

After the defeat in Ahmedabad, Pakistan are placed fourth on the World Cup 2023 points table with two wins from three games. In Hyderabad, they started off with a win against the Netherlands and then pulled off the highest-ever run chase in World Cup history to beat Sri Lanka.
