Marsh on Starc's injury

Mitchell Marsh revealed that Starc had just suffered a cramp but was sent out of the ground to rest as the management and team did not want to risk anything going ahead in the mega tournament. Starc cramped his leg when he came to bowl the first ball of his final over which went wide. He gave 20 runs in his three overs and picked two big wickets. Marsh also talked about how teams will have to play the old style of T20 cricket in this tournament.

“Close game. Good to get the win. It's not going to be the 200 types in this tournament. We are kind of going to the old T20 style here in this tournament. (On Stoinis) Took his time and showed his experience. Starcy was just a cramp so didn't want to take a chance. When Starcy says I am okay to go off you let him go off. We are looking forward to playing England. Different conditions here. Oman v Australia was a tight one, great for the game of cricket. There is sun here and we will enjoy that. It's going to be a great game,” said Mitchell Marsh in the post-match presentation.

Stoinis lead Aussies to win

Marcus Stoinis put on show with his great all-round performace. He first played a game-changing knock of 67 runs from just 36 balls and then he also picked up three crucial wickets and stunned Oman's middle order. He even won the Player of the Match award for his all-round heroics. Australia batting first posted 164/7 and then restricted Oman on 125/9 to win the match by 39 runs.

"Nice start, we got the win and boys spent some time in the middle and everyone got to bowl. I was trying to soak up the conditions and keep it simple. Couple kept low and couple were spinning for the spinners. It seemed like swing wasn't available, and I was trying to get some bounce with cross-seam deliveries," said Stoinis in the post-match presentation.
