Fans slam Bangladesh for cheating.

Bangladesh seal spot in Super 8 stage.

Bangladesh player Jaker Ali has sparked a massive controversy as he was seen consulting the dressing room for a DRS call for his partner on-field Tanzim Hasan Sakib during the 14 over of their innings. As per the ICC rules, it is not allowed for on-field players to consult their dugout for any sort of review but during match 37 of the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup 2024, a similar sight slipped from the umpire's eyes.

We have all seen how a DRS review can turn out to be game-changing many times in the past. A good or bad DRS call can sometimes cause a team the whole match and that's why the rules state that players can only consider their fellow on-field members for taking a review, not the teammates sitting in the dugout but Jaker Ali was spotted consulting the dressing room and helping Tanzim Hasan Sakib take a review during the 14th over, which later overturned his dismissal.

The video of this act is now going viral all over the internet, where fans are calling this act from Bangladesh players as cheating and asking ICC to take strict action against them for breaking the rules. However, Sakib failed to utilise this lifeline and got out on the very next ball and as it was clean bowled dismissal, no DRS call was required.

Bangladesh seal spot in Super 8

Bangladesh defeated Nepal by a margin of 21 runs to seal their spot in the Super 8 stage. They have now been placed in the same group as India, Australia, and Afghanistan. They would try to continue this winning run and qualify for the semi-finals.

“We just wanted to keep things simple. Not panic and bowl in good areas. We were very confident of defending this total. This bowling attack is beautiful. Everyone bowled well. Mustafizur bowled a wicket maiden under pressure at the death. I just wanted to execute my plans and that’s what I was focused on. We’re really excited to play in the Super Eights, we are very confident as well,” said Tanzim Sakib after receiving the Player of the Match award for his astonishing four-fer against Nepal. He grabbed four wickets in his four-over spell and only gave 7 runs in them. He also bowled 2 maiden overs.
