Former Pakistan cricketer Kamran Akmal found himself surrounded by a massive controversy after making derogatory and racist remarks against Arshdeep Singh and the Sikh community during the recently concluded India and Pakistan match in the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 which took place in New York, on June 9. Indian legend Harbhajan Singh rightfully found it offensive and slammed the PAK cricketer for his statements on Live TV. After which the former cricketer publically apologised for his unacceptable statement. However, the former Indian spinner has fired another fiery statement at the Pakistan cricketer and called him 'Nalayak'.
Kamran Akmal's apology
Kamran Akmal's remarks invited criticism from around the globe including Harbhajan Singh. After which the former PAK wicket-keeper aplogised to Harbhajan Singh and the entire Sikh community by writing an apology from his official ‘X’ account formerly known as Twitter.
"I deeply regret my recent comments and sincerely apologize to @harbhajan_singh and the Sikh community. My words were inappropriate and disrespectful. I have the utmost respect for Sikhs all over the world and never intended to hurt anyone. I am truly sorry. #Respect #Apology," wrote Akmal.
Harbhajan Singh's fresh attack at Kamran Akmal
Harbhajan Singh called Kamran Akmal a Nalayak and his statement was absurd and childish. He said he would like to meet Kamran and ask him about the history of Sikhs and all their work to save different communities from invaders.
"This is a very absurd and childish statement that only a ‘Nalayak’ can make. Kamran Akmal should understand that there is no need to say anything about anyone’s religion and make fun of it. I would like to ask Kamran Akmal – Do you know the history of Sikhs, who are Sikhs and all the work that Sikhs have done to save your community, your mothers, sisters," Harbhajan said while speaking to ANI.
