Rashid Khan-led Afghanistan is gearing up for their first Super 8 game against Rohit Sharma's Indian cricket team in match 43 of the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, on June 20 (Thursday). However, the Afghan team has been struggling with a unique problem ahead of their big game. They have been forced to cook their own meals as they are unable to find Halal food in the ICC-arranged meals.
Afghanistan's struggle with food
A source close to the Afghanistan team told Sports Tak about their current struggle in arranging food. The team has access to Halal food in St Lucia but that is not the case in Barbados. They are taking help from some people to arrange halal food but it is extremely tough. They even have to cook their own meals. They are hoping that's not the scene at the other venues.
Afghanistan won three out of their four group games but it was enough to ensure their place in the Super 8 stage, where they will be facing India, Australia, and Bangladesh. They will start their Super 8 campaign with a clash against fellow Asian side Team India. There is also a slight rain prediction but it is highly unlikely of it to cause a washout or play spoilsport. Afghan side would like to put on a similar performance they did in the group stage and qualify for the semi-finals for the first time ever.
