Rohit Sharma-led Team India picked up a big 68-run win against Jos Buttler's England in the second semi-final to ensure their qualification in the Final of the ongoing edition of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana, on June 27 (Thursday). After the big clash, former English captain Michael Vaughan has been extremely vocal about England's loss and has opinionated that Guyana pitch was favouring the Indian team. Former Indian player Wasim Jaffer also took a jibe at Vaughan but the Englishman replied by reminding him of the ODI World Cup Final.
Michael Vaughan hits back at Wasim Jaffer
“Nice to hear from you Wasim. It’s been a while .. Very good performance from India .. The best team so far in the WC & should win the final easily like last Nov,” Michael Vaughan wrote on 'X' while replying to Wasim Jaffer asking him if he is okay.
The tweet from Vaughan is going viral all over the internet and has created a lot of buzz after India's qualification in the Final. He also tweeted about Guyana pitch favouring India more than England after which he was slammed by a former Indian spinner.
“If England had beaten SA they would have got the Trinidad semi and I believe they would have won that game .. So no complaints they haven’t been good enough. But Guyana has been a lovely venue pick for India,” wrote Vaughan on ‘X’ formerly known as Twitter.
“What makes u think Guyana was a good venue for India ? Both Teams played on the same venue . England won the toss that was an advantage. Stop being silly . England was outplayed by India in all departments. Accept the fact and Move on and keep ur rubbish with urself. Talk logic not Nonsense,” Harbhajan Singh replied to Vaughan's remark.
India to face South Africa in Final
Team India were asked to bat first by England but it turned in their favour as they scored 171/7 in 20 overs with the help of an amazing half-century from captain Rohit Sharma and good contributing innings from Suryakumar Yadav, and Hardik Pandya. Then in the bowling departments, the Indian spinners Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets each and played the crucial role in bowling out England for just 103 runs and won the match by 68 runs. Jasprit Bumrah grabbed two wickets as well. Now the Indian team will face South Africa in the Final of T20 World Cup 2024 which will be held in Barbados.
