Chris Jordan scripted his name in history after becoming the first bowler from England to take a hat-trick in the T20 World Cups. He is also the first English bowler with a T20I hat-trick and he achieved this massive feat during the match against the United States in match 49 of the ongoing edition of the mega tournament being played at the Kensington Oval in Barbados, on June 23 (Sunday). This is also the third hat-trick this season, as Pat Cummins took two back-to-back hat-tricks earlier in the tournament against Bangladesh and Afghanistan.
Chris Jordan on taking a hat-trick
Chris Jordan has become the 8th bowler in history to take a hat-trick in the T20 World Cups and this also the second time there have been three hat-tricks in the same T20 World Cup edition. He expressed the unbelievable feeling of the moment. Chris Jordan took four wickets in the 19th over including a hat-trick.
“Unbelievable feeling (to take the hat-trick), was good to restrict them. Getting it (hat-trick) at a special place (Barbados - his birthplace) is always nice. Glad I was able to hit on the target. Just finished it off towards the end. We summed up the conditions pretty well, we knew they will came hard at us in the powerplay, USA have been playing well in the tournament. Rashid set up the game at the backend for us. Points first and foremost,” said during the mid-innings break.
England eye semi-final spot
Chris Jordan's four-wicket haul and disciplined bowling from the rest of the English bowlers helped them bowl out USA on 115 runs. They now have the opportunity to seal the semi-final spot directly if they chase it down in just 18.4 overs. After which, the SA vs WI game will become a virtual knockout for the remaining sem-final spot from Group 2.
